I am looking forward to a bunch of appearances at this year's Vancouver Jazz Festival. I will be performing in a duo concert with Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser. I will join forces with him again, along with American drumming legend Gerry Hemingway and my long-time collaborator French pianist Benoît Delbecq, as part of Fourth Landscape meets Because She Hoped. The four of us will be also presenting concerts in Cumberland and Nanaimo following our Vancouver performance. Benoît Delbecq will be my special guest, joining me and two of Vancouver's hardest working musicians; Gordon Grdina and Kenton Loewen (Peregrine Falls, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith) for a late night session at The Ironworks. I will also perform on Canada Day with Kora player Boujou Badiali Cissoko and world travelling drummer Curtis Andrews. Following the festival, Sammy and I will be recording, videotaping, and traveling to San Francisco together to play at the Centre for New Music, presented by Nexmap (thanks to Pro Helvetia and Linda Bouchard!). Busy times ahead!
